Welcome to the Interdisciplinary Agri-Food Center (KEAGRO) of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki AUTh)
KEAGRO AUTh was founded under the Decision of AUTh Senate No. 2965/29 & 30-8-2018, based on the initiative of thirteen (13) Laboratories of the Faculty of Agriculture, School of Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Environment. At present (2021), sixteen (16) Laboratories of the Faculty of Agriculture as well as Laboratories of the Faculties of Biology, Forestry and Natural Environment, Pharmacy and Chemistry participate in KEAGRO, which are active in research and education.
KEAGRO AUTh was established based on the belief that the agri-food sector chain has high economic and social importance for Greece, but at the same time it is connected with local peculiarities and therefore its strengthening can be a pole of sustainable development and increasing competitiveness at national and local level.
The Center is active in the research, study, dissemination, transfer of know-how and education, corresponding to the entire interdisciplinary work performed in the field of agri-food, in the Department of Agriculture, as well as in other Departments and Schools of AUTh.
It is governed by a seven-member Board of Directors (Link: https://keagro.auth.gr/en/board-of-directors) and is self-financed, having resources from research projects within or outside the EU and by providing certified services throughout the agri-food chain. All members of the AUTh community who participate in KEAGRO AUTh have high scientific specialization and experience, work in a modern infrastructure and facilities environment and aim to support actions and practices that will lead to sustainable rural development.
KEAGRO AUTh promotes innovative and qualified agricultural management for the
production of high quality agri-food products labelled as low carbon footprint products.
The scientific staff of KEAGRO AUTh has high expertise and experience and works in a modern equipment environment for the
development of new standards and methodologies highlighting the power of research to offer solutions in the agri-food sector.
All-in-one Center: KEAGRO AUTh is an innovative group consisting of a cluster of Laboratories of
AUTh that offers modern solutions and recommendations throughout the agri-food production chain.
