Apostolos Apostolidis


He is a Professor at the School of Agriculture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Director of the Fish & Fisheries Laboratory. Regarding his administrative role, he is currently the Dean of Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Environment while, among other things, he served for 2 consecutive terms as the Head of School of Agriculture. He has more than 25 years of research experience with innovative laboratory techniques in the fields of molecular biology and genetics.

Indicatively, his scientific interests include the applications of molecular markers (eg sequencing, SNPs, STR) in the identification of organisms / species and in the investigation of polymorphisms resulting from the data analysis. His work includes more than 100 publications in national and international journals as well as in proceedings of national and international conferences, 40 of which are in Science Citation Index (SCI) journals.

His scientific work has more than 1250 citations in international journals, according to the Google Scholar database. He has been scientific reviewer in 23 SCI journals, member of the Scientific Committee and/or scientific reviewer in Hellenic and International Conferences, evaluator of national and international research proposals, external reviewer for the promotion / appointment of institutes’ members abroad (Croatia) and member of a PhD Thesis’ committee in Spain.
