MINAS YIANGOU

He is a Professor of Immunobiology-Molecular Biology at the School of Biology of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
His research interest focuses on the homeostasis and stress of organisms at molecular and cellular level, in the development of experimental models of autoimmune diseases induced by food antigens (celiac disease-gluten enteropathy), in cellular and gene therapy. He established new innovative and reliable methods for the isolation and characterization of probiotic microorganisms from mammals, invertebrates and food. He provides teaching in immunobiology and biotechnology at undergraduate levels at the Schools of Biology and Pharmacy as well as in 4 MSc programs of the School of Biology and School of Medicine. He is a member of the GENeTres group seated in the Center for Interdisciplinary Research and Innovation (KEDEK-AUTH) providing services in genetic/epigenetic analysis as well as in posttranslational research.
He published more than 85 scientific articles in Science Citation Index (SCI) journals (citation <1600, h-index: 25), many symposium abstracts while he edited two documents and one CD rom in Biotechnology and one book (translation) in Cellular and molecular immunology.
He is serving his third term as Head of the School of Biology while in the past he was Vice Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Director of the MSc program of the School of Biology of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
