Zalidis George

George Zalidis is a graduate of the Department of Agriculture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, with a PhD in Soil Science and a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering at Michigan State University. He is the Director of the Laboratory of "Remote Sensing, Spectroscopy and Geographic Information Systems" and holds the position of Professor of Pollution and Soil Degradation of the School of Agriculture of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Scientific Coordinator of Interbalkan Environment Center (i-BEC) since 2007.

His administrative experience focuses on issues of total quality management in the 13 Positions of Responsibility he has held to-date. He has published more than 60 research articles (1849 citations, h-Index 27 and i-index 49), has presented more than 80 papers in conferences, and has participated in more than 120 research projects, as well as in International Conferences and Scientific Committees. He has also been a supervising professor in more than 10 doctoral dissertations at the School of Agriculture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Michigan State University, of which 2 doctorates he is currently supervising are Professors at US Universities.

His research activity focuses on issues such as the quality and restoration of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, the utilization of Earth observation data (space and terrestrial) in the SBAs and SDGs, as well as the exploitation of spectral data in monitoring rural ecosystems and natural and aquatic ecosystems.
